This Fruit and Water Smoothie proves that even the simplest ingredients can create a pleasurable treat. This recipe aims to use up those berries you forgot about in your fridge. It doesn’t matter how bruised or soft they might be, just be sure to avoid any with mold. The orange zest adds a nice contrast to the sweetness of the berries and helps to elevate their flavor.
Fruit and Water Smoothie
- Fresh berries- I used strawberries and raspberries
- Fresh mint or basil, optional
- Zest and juice of 1 orange
- Sort through berries picking out any that might have molded. Wash and place in blender with a few leaves of mint or basil, orange zest and juice, and just enough water to cover the berries. Blend until smooth. Add ice for a frostier smoothie.
*To wash strawberries: place in a bowl of water and use your hands to gently pick berries out of the water; you’ll be shocked as to how much dirt is left behind.
