Because I spend so much time researching food, products, and places that are vegan, I created a new category “Vegan Products and Places”. This week, I’m featuring a recipe that can be made in less than five minutes using a delicious hummus from Heaven Hummus.
Who is Hummus Heaven?

You can find a Hummus Heaven stand at any of the 150 farmer’s markets around the Bay Area. They’ve been selling small batch Mediterranean products like hummus, marinated olives and artichokes, pita chips, and more since 2007. Their representatives are always friendly and happy to hand out samples, which I highly recommend. They usually have around 20 different flavors of hummus available for sampling. My favorites being the Roasted Garlic and Chives; Kale and Almond; and Spicy Black Bean with Chipotle and Harissa. The hummus sells for $6 (8 ounces).
The best part about their hummus though, is that it’s made with olive oil. Most store-bought hummus is made with canola oil, an oil your body cannot easily digest. Read more about how canola oil affects your body here. I’d also like to mention that they are cooking their own beans. The rep at the market was proud to share that they also soak their beans for five days before cooking them. I always notice how much better I feel after eating beans that have been soaked, so it’s nice to know they’re just as diligent.
This week I bought their Spicy Black Bean Hummus with Chipotle and Harissa. I really enjoyed this hummus, because it had so much flavor! Usually when I make a hummus wrap, I also have to make a sauce for flavor and moisture, but this hummus took care of both aspects. The hummus was extremely flavorful, using only a few tablespoons per wrap, and creamy but not dry- like most pre-made hummus. After assembling the wrap, I just drizzled a little olive oil over top of the vegetables and a dash of sea salt, it was delicious! No sauce required. 🙂 It even held up well in the fridge after two days, the tortilla wasn’t mushy and the vegetables were still crisp.
- 1 whole wheat flour tortilla, burrito size
- 3 tbsp Spicy Black Bean with Chipotle and Harissa Hummus

- Lay tortilla onto a cutting board, then spread hummus evenly onto the middle section.

- Drizzle olive oil over the tomato and avocado. Sprinkle sea salt on top.
- Roll tightly as possible, leaving the ends open.
- Slice in half and enjoy immediately, or wrap up for later.
