Rarely does “just add water” equate with a high-quality, healthy food, which is why I was so excited to work with Cacoco– a vegan drinking chocolate company based out of Santa Cruz, California.
The base for their drinking chocolate is made from raw cacao powder, cacao butter, and coconut sugar. This results in a creamy, rich drinking chocolate that is just sweet enough. They also use superfood ingredients like reishi mushroom extract, mesquite, lucuma, and maca. And even with all these premium ingredients, each serving only cost $1.75, not bad for a superfood drinking chocolate! This would be a great treat to share with family and friends over the holidays, as chocolate is an easy way to introduce vegan food.
Drinking Chocolate vs. Hot Cocoa
Drinking chocolate is a thicker, richer form of hot cocoa. It’s the queen of hot chocolate. Meant to be consumed in small quantities, like espresso, drinking chocolate should be sipped just a little slower than hot cocoa.
Fire Walker– An intense spicy flavor, who knew habanero and chocolate could work? If you’re already adding cinnamon or ginger to your hot chocolate, this is only the next step. : )
The Original– A pleasing, well developed flavor with notes of cinnamon and nutmeg. This is the flavor everyone will like.
Global Warrior– My favorite flavor! Warming notes of turmeric and cardamom, similar to what you’d find in chai tea.
Midnight Mystic – The darkest chocolate you will ever taste, this is for dark chocolate lovers.
Easy to make:
- Boil water.
- Stir, shake, or blend.
